Background:
Biomaterials, the cornerstone of the bio-health industry, encompass vital domains such as medical health, life sciences, and implantable/interventional applications. Their original breakthroughs and subsequent industrial integration directly shape the core competitiveness of China’s bio-health sector. Currently, the swift evolution of ten major bio-health materials, including hydrogels, antimicrobial materials, and bioelectronic materials, coupled with ongoing innovations in advanced processing techniques such as coatings and 3D printing, has expanded their utilization in clinical implantable and interventional devices. However, the industry still faces challenges such as inefficient conversion of original research findings, disconnection between scientific research and clinical needs, insufficient alignment of processing techniques with industrial scalability, and imperfect collaboration mechanisms among industry, academia, research, and clinical practice.
To tackle these industry bottlenecks, with a focus on original R&D in biomaterials, innovation in advanced processing technologies, and clinical application implementation, while establishing an effective collaboration bridge among universities, research institutions, medical facilities, and enterprises, we are organizing the “Forum on Original Breakthroughs and Industrial Transformation in Biomaterials”. This forum will serve as a dynamic platform where industry professionals can engage in idea exchange, foster collaborative partnerships, and work towards shared growth, ultimately propelling the medical device industry towards even greater heights of advancement.
Participants:
- Medical device manufacturers: heads of the departments of R&D, technology, as well as project/company leaders.

Background:
To further concentrate on niche sectors and intensify discussions on applications, addressing the pain points of polymer materials application in key medical fields, this half-day “Forum on Innovative Applications of Polymer Materials (Rubber & Plastics)” is specifically organized. Polymer materials, boasting excellent biocompatibility, plasticity, fatigue resistance, and cost-effectiveness, have emerged as the core substrate for implantable and interventional devices. They constitute the most industrialized and extensively applied segment within the biomaterials industry, serving as a pivotal platform to tackle the polymer material challenges outlined in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s (MIIT) “Innovation Mission for Biomedical Materials: Addressing Key Tasks (Second Batch)” initiative.
The cardiovascular field, representing the largest market in interventional medicine, urgently requires domestic substitution. Neurointervention, as an emerging hotspot, imposes exceedingly stringent demands on material biocompatibility and conductivity. In orthopedics, polymer materials facilitate the lightweight and personalized development of orthopedic implants. For ophthalmology, optimizing the biocompatibility and light transmittance of medical polymers is crucial for enhancing therapeutic efficacy. This forum will focus on the cutting-edge clinical applications of polymer materials, establishing a precision platform for industry, clinical practice, and research collaboration. It aims to foster deep integration between innovative polymer technologies and clinical needs, driving the high-quality development of domestic medical polymer materials and related devices.
Participants:
- Medical device manufacturers: heads of the departments of R&D, technology, as well as project/company leaders.
- Manufacturers of medical polymer materials
- Suppliers of other polymer material design, processing technologies, and solutions
- Clinicians, universities, laboratories and research organizations
