NuVasive launches Modulus implant for use in surgeries

NuVasive has expanded the Advanced Materials Science (AMS) implant portfolio with the launch of the Modulus XLIF Dual Sided Plate for surgical use.

The NuVasive AMS implant portfolio includes surface and structural technologies. It will improve the osseointegration and biomechanical properties of surgical materials that are used in spine procedures.

The low-profile, anti-migration NuVasive Modulus XLIF Dual Sided Plate will enable performing two points of fixation in eXtreme Lateral Interbody Fusion (XLIF) surgeries.

It provides individualised solutions at the discretion of the surgeon in multi-stage procedures or during anterior longitudinal ligament release.

Surgeons will be able to place the plate before or after insertion of the Modulus XLIF implant.

Additionally, the company received 510(k) clearances from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Modulus ALIF and Cohere TLIF-O implants, which adhere to the core principles of surface, structure and imaging, and have been designed for fusion.

NuVasive’s porous titanium implant Modulus ALIF has been engineered for the anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) procedure and can be used in both supine and lateral ALIF (XALIF).

The Cohere TLIF-O is a porous PEEK implant engineered for the transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) procedure. The oblique plane of the implant features NuVasive’s single-step insert and rotate technique and a lordotic design.

NuVasive president Matt Link said: “With these new offerings, NuVasive strengthens its AMS portfolio to equip surgeons with best-in-class technology for a variety of thoracolumbar procedures.

“NuVasive’s continued R&D initiatives underscore the company’s commitment to expand within key procedural spine segments and deliver differentiated technology to support better patient outcomes.”
